Church Street Surgery is an Accredited Teaching Practice looking for a Full Time or Part Time GP or registrar to join our Team.
We are a friendly family orientated Practice located in the North East Victoria with a population of around 15000.
We currently have 13 GP’s on site. Our Practice has 16 Consulting Rooms with a 3 bed Procedure and Nursing Room. We have We house Dorevitch Pathology weekdays. We have 11 nurses that support out GPs with treatment room support for minor surgical procedures, dressings, vaccinations, spirometry, diabetes education and chronic disease management.
The successful GP is preferred to have experience in rural communities and will need to be credentialed as a VMO at Benalla Health. Services in Benalla include a 30 bed Public Hospital that offers Urgent Care, inpatient care, obstetrics (including intrapartum care) and 2 surgical theatres. The hospital has medical imaging onsite with x-ray, ultrasound and CT scanning services. We have 4 Aged Care Facilities in Benalla which are serviced by our GPs.
We are a very keen teaching practice, accredited with the RACGP and ACCRM . We supervise and train medical students, interns, residents and registrars both training towards ACCRM and RACGP qualification. We have weekly education meetings at lunch and monthly dinnertime education meetings to assist with ongoing learning.
Between us all our doctors have an incredible range of skills in Anaesthetics, Obstetrics, emergency, surgery, skin cancer, mental health, youth health, paediatrics, indigenous medicine, travel medicine and aged care. We are keen to share our skills with others and incorporate new skills to our practice as well .
We are AGPAL accredited and have previously been awarded Australian practice of the year.
Our Practice hours are Monday – Friday 9am to 5:30pm and Saturday 9am to 12noon. The GP will be required to participate in a shared After Hours On-Call Roster. If working full time, approximately 1 night in 15 you would be required to be on-call for the hospital inpatients and urgent care. This responsibility comes with a generous on-call payment in addition to generous allocation of billings from patient seen. GPs are also required to work one weekend in 15 as a part of providing hospital services.
Benalla is a fantastic place to live and enjoy a rural lifestyle. It is surrounded by farmland and vineyards and benefits from fantastic local produce. Benalla locals are keen on local team sports with local teams in football, netball, basketball, hockey and tennis. Camping, cycling (road and mountain biking), bushwalking, golf and fishing are other popular outdoor pursuits that our doctors enjoy. Benalla is situated close to Victoria’s Alpine Region, one the State’s most popular tourist destinations.
Benalla is 216 km’s northeast of Melbourne via the Hume Freeway. Wangaratta is the nearest larger town, 38km’s away and has the closest Public Emergency Department at Northeast Health and most sub-specialist services.
